Energy deposition depth of a Nd:YAP laser in human skin
نویسندگان
چکیده
Nd:YAP laser emitting at 1342 nm appears promissing for nonablative skin rejuvenation, due to lower absorption in epidermal melanin and higher absorption in water as compared to the 1064 nm light from Nd:YAG lasers. The aim of our study was to verify these relations in vivo and quantify the energy deposition depth of a Nd:YAP laser in intact human skin. A comparison with the results obtained with more common Nd:YAG laser should enable design of a safe and effective treatment protocol for future human studies.

The effect of repeated laser stimuli to ink-marked skin on skin temperature—recommendations for a safe experimental protocol in humans
Background. Nd:YAP laser is widely used to investigate the nociceptive and pain systems, generating perpetual and laser-evoked neurophysiological responses. A major procedural concern for the use of Nd:YAP laser stimuli in experimental research is the risk of skin damage. The absorption of Nd:YAP laser stimuli is greater in darker skin, or in pale skin that has been darkened with ink, prompting...

Objective. Nd:YAP laser has several potentialities of clinical applications in endodontics. The aim of our study is to determine the safety range of irradiation parameters during endodontic application of Nd:YAP laser that can be used without damaging and overheating the periodontal tissue. Material and Methods. Twenty-seven caries-free single-rooted extracted human teeth were used. Crowns were...
متن کاملTreatment of Dentinal Hypersensitivity by means of Nd:YAP Laser: A Preliminary In Vitro Study
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of Nd:YAP laser to seal dentinal tubules at different parameters. MATERIAL AND METHODS 24 caries-free human wisdom impacted molars were used. The crowns were sectioned transversally in order to totally expose the dentin. The smear layer was removed by a 1 min application of EDTA. Each surface was divided into four quadrants, but...
متن کاملEffect of low level laser irradiation with vitamin A on cell viability and apoptosis induction of human skin melanoma
Background: Skin cancer is the most prevalent type of cancer and melanoma is the deadliest kind of skin cancer in the world. Due to enhanced induction of apoptosis and ROS levels, low-level lasers can be utilized to destroy skin cancer cells. Lasers are used to treat some skin lesions. Vitamin A is beneficial in the prevention and treatment of skin cancer. Vitamin A inhibits the pathway of canc...
متن کاملCharacterization and Corrosion Behavior of Hydroxyapatite- Coated Titanium Substrates Prepared Through Laser Induced Liquid Deposition Technique
Titanium and titanium alloys are often used in orthopedic surgery and dentistry because of their especial characteristics such as biocompatibility, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance. However, their bio- inertness is the most serious drawback for biomedical applications. Therefore, a bioactive coating like hydroxyapatite (HA) is coated on their surface. In this regard, in the prese...
